Author Paul Tough
Join us Tuesday, October 8, 2013 when Brookwood School welcomes Paul Tough, author of the New York Times best-seller How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character. The program, part of Brookwood’s 4 to 14 Speaker Series: Parenting Elementary School Kids, begins at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a book sale and signing.
Tough will discuss the ideas central to How Children Succeed such as what matters most in attaining success may have more to do with character traits (perseverance, curiosity, conscientiousness, optimism, and self-control) than intelligence and high test scores. And he'll share stories from his reporting that demonstrate how overcoming adversity is what produces character, and how character, even more than IQ, is what leads to real and lasting success.
